Background

Marie Elizabeth Lee was a British assassin who worked along side with Connor Kenway during the American Revolution. She was born to Thomas and Abigail Lewis, though she was put in an orphanage at the age of 7 after her parents were killed in a colonist uprising. She spent the majority of her life in an orphanage, until she had turned 18 and was confirmed as a legal adult.

Soon after she had left the orphanage, she was recruited by the Templar Order and served under Charles Lee - rather than serving under Haytham. She was taught personally by Charles on how to fight, and after some time he developed feelings for her. She - however - had not felt the same way. After repeated attempts by Lee to take her hand in marriage and many rejections, Lee decided that he has had enough. In 1779, he threatened to have her killed if she refused once more, so she was quite literally forced to say 'yes'.

Lee had Marie's last name changed merely days after their engagement. She was removed from the Templar Order to insure her safety from the Assassins and was sent to Martha's Vineyard. During the trip, her ship was attacked and she was kidnapped by Connor Kenway and Robert Faulkner - for they believed without her, Lee would be weak. She was brought to the Davenport Homestead and was kept under constant watch. However, she did not seem to mind that she had been separated from Charles Lee.

She was retrained to fight; this time, as an assassin. Connor took Marie under his wing and taught her everything he knew - despite the fact she was a Templar. He showed her the way of his people, even going as far to take her to Kanien'kehá:ka. When Marie was introduced to Kanen'tó:kon, he complained to Connor; saying he could not simply bring an outsider in to their village. He resented the woman, acting quite cold towards her. She attempted various acts of kindness, but still he had disliked her.

Returning to the homestead that same day, Marie chopped off much of her hair and obtained her Assassin Robes - seeing it was about time she should begin working to take down the Templars. Though only Haytham and Charles remained, she did her part as in fighting for the citizens of Boston and New York.

Not long after the death of Haytham Kenway, Marie was captured by Lee during a mission in Lexington. She was taken to New York and was closely watched day after day, up until the day of Charles' death. After Connor had killed Lee, Marie followed him back to the homestead, where she remained until another threat reared its ugly head.}
